CHEC publishes "THE HOUSEHOLDDETECTIVE PRIMER: How to Protect our Children From Toxins in the Home," an introduction to the less and non-toxic alternatives available to parents. "The Household Detective" was written by CHEC staffmember Ben Zelinsky.

Our Mascot Sherlock "Homes"

"Sherlock and I became part of CHEC at around the same time. I was putting together the first draft of the Household Detective right around the same time that Sherlock brought his first decomposing rat into the office. CHEC was my first real job out of college. I wanted to work with children and the environment. CHEC provided the perfect opportunity. While I didn't stay long, Nancy, Sandy, and I were able to get the Household Detective up and running. I hope that this publication has been a meaningful contribution to children's environmental health. It was also fun dressing up as Santa and returning lead toys to Toys R Us. I suppose Santa could sue us for unlawful use of his image, but I imaginehe supports our cause." Ben Zelinsky
