Sheldon Whitehouse, Esq

Whitehouse, former Attorney General of Rhode Island, also served as United States Attorney of the District of Rhode Island. He received his B.A. in 1978 from Yale University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School in 1982. His career in government has brought him much respect in legal circles as well as acknowledgement from other professional and community affiliations. His awards include The Childhood Lead Action Project “Beyond the Call of Duty” Award 2001; The International Workers’ Compensation Fund 2000 Lifetime Achievement Award; the R.I. Common Cause Public Achievement Award 1999; and Save The Bay's 2003 Environmental Advocacy Award.

Whitehouse is also a board member of The Alliance for Healthy Homes, Progreso Latino, The Rhode Island Quality Institute, The Rhode Island Cancer Council, and The Rhode Island Children’s Crusade. His publications include numerous op-ed pieces in the Providence Journal Bulletin as well as articles in the Rhode Island Bar Journal and law reviews.

Mr. Whitehouse was born in New York City, October 20, 1955. He is married to Sandra Thornton Whitehouse and has two children. He is presently a lawyer with Edwards & Angell in Providence, Rhode Island.
