Nancy Greenspan

<<Back to Advisory Board

Fourteen years ago, with the illness of her youngest child, Nancy Greenspan became an active participant in protecting children's health from the effects environmental toxins. After resigning from her position as a health economist with the federal government, she focused her efforts primarily on initiating stronger local and state pesticide regulation. As a board member of the Rachel Carson Council, she was instrumental in the publication of the Council's Basic Guide to Pesticides — Their Characteristics and Hazards, a source book on over 700 pesticides.

During this same time period, she co-authored, with her husband, child psychiatrist Stanley Greenspan, three books and numerous articles on child development. Other writing activities include magazine articles on various environmental issues. Presently, Nancy is writing a biography of Nobel physicist Max Born. Professor Born is also the grandfather of fellow CHEC board member Olivia Newton-John

Three years ago, Nancy began working in the field of energy conservation and continues to do so with Pepco Services, Inc., an energy services subsidiary of PEPCO, Washington D.C.'s electric utility.
