Elizabeth Hauge Sword

Elizabeth Hauge Sword is the Executive Director of the Children's Health Environmental Coalition. She is responsible for maintaining CHEC's strategic vision to educate parents and care givers about environmental health threats to children and how to assess and minimize children's exposures to toxic substances. She has contributed to CHEC's growth and development since its inception in 1995.

Ms. Sword has extensive experience and expertise in the fields of technology and education. She has created technology-based curricula for classroom teachers, run an elementary school computer lab, and has designed and implemented an after school, computer-assisted learning program for 1st-5th grade, basic skills students. Her concept and design for a World Wide Web index for the K-12 community,, initially funded by Microsoft, brought the power of the internet to students and teachers in an efficient, functional way.

She currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Pew Center Children's Health and the Environment at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and is an education judge for the Global Information Infrastructure Awards (the Internet equivalent to the Oscars). Elizabeth currently serves on the Federal Advisory Committee of the US EPAOffice of Children's Health Protection

Additionally, she is a trustee of the Princeton Charter School, a K-8 public school, which opened in September 1997 and a published author of "A Child's Anthology of Poetry", now in its fifth printing.

As an articulate and well versed speaker and mother of three school-age children, Ms. Sword is an excellent communicator of CHEC's mission and new Environmental Childproofing Campaign.
